How to wake up feeling energised

How to wake up feeling energised

Okay, we’re the first to admit that sometimes there’s nothing worse than waking up and having to drag yourself out of bed every morning.

We fully envy those who can bound out of bed seemingly without a care in the world.

But we’ve learnt that it doesn’t always come naturally to these people – they undertake practices in the evening before as well as the morning which puts some extra pep in their step.

With the help of Tuck.com, we've put together a list of ways to wake up in the morning feeling the best version of yourself.

Tips and tricks to help you wake up feeling ready to take on the day:

First, setting yourself up for quality sleep before bed will ensure that you’ve achieved an adequate amount of rest.

We’ve already covered this in our eBook but let’s quickly recap:

  • Establish a bedtime routine such as taking a bath or reading
  • Reduce stress by stretching, practising yoga or writing down your worries
  • Use the power of lavender to relax and unwind
  • Reduce electronic use
  • Keep your bedroom dark, quiet and cool

Also, this may be very obvious, but do you actually set enough time to sleep?

Ensuring that you’re minimising your night-time activities to ensure you hit the hay at a reasonable hour will allow you to make sure you get between 7-8 hours of sleep each night.

Next, you need to find ways that work for you to boost alertness in the morning so you’re ready to take on the day. Try the following:

  • Open your curtains and let the sunshine in as soon as you wake to reinforce your circadian rhythms and give you an energy boost
  • A morning workout will get your heart pumping while boosting your mood. Get some bonus points and train outside in the sun
  • Turn off the snooze button! It makes it harder for you to wake up as the standard snooze time is too short for your sleep to be beneficial. Place your alarm clock on the other side of the room so you have to physically get up and turn it off.
  • Have a glass of water as soon as you wake. It will hydrate and refresh you after the long hours spent asleep
  • Why don’t you make waking up something to look forward to? Making a morning playlist, cook a delicious breakfast or do some yoga to inspire and give you confidence for the day ahead.

Personally, we're definitely going to try putting our alarm clock on the other side of the room and making a morning inspirational playlist - we're talking a lot of Fleetwood Mac. What will you try out?
